Dedicated Volunteer Program
Dedicated Volunteer positions offer a greater level of responsibility and training than our occasional volunteer opportunities. Dedicated Volunteers work closely with a Spirit Rock staff member, offering a high level of support. There is an approximately 6-month commitment for each of these roles, typically shifts are 4 hours twice a month. Dedicated Volunteers accrue 5 nights of residential retreat time. This is the only volunteer opportunity that accrues residential retreat benefits. Other benefits include a 30% discount at our bookstore, lunch with the staff, and invitations to retreat dharma talks.

What is a Dedicated Volunteer?
Dedicated Volunteers make a commitment to serve approximately 4 hours twice a month for 6 months in support of Spirit Rock staff- with some flexibility depending on the role and to accommodate schedules. DVs work with a specific staff member or department for the duration of service. We ask people to volunteer for three months on an occasional basis before making a 6 month commitment.
What kinds of service opportunities are available to a Dedicated Volunteer?
Dedicated Volunteers work in a variety of departments. Depending on our current needs, these include Land Care, Communications, Volunteer Department, Bookstore, Accounting/Data Entry and other possibilities.
How do I get started as a Dedicated Volunteer? Once you have completed your three months of regular volunteering, if you are interested in becoming a Dedicated Volunteer, please send an e-mail with your availability and desired department you would like to serve (if applicable) to volunteering@spiritrock.org.
I have certain specialized skills I would like to offer to Spirit Rock, what is the best way for me to do that?
Spirit Rock is fortunate to have a pool of creative and talented community members with a variety of skills and the desire to share them. At times we have need of special skills and those requests will be posted to the Upcoming Volunteer Opportunities page on this site. However, the intention of the Dedicated Volunteer Program is to offer support to Spirit Rock staff with many of the day to day tasks that keep the organization running. Your service insures that we can continue offering the retreatants and events that yogis so greatly appreciate.
Can I use my accrued hours toward residential retreat time?
As a part of the Dedicated Volunteer Program, volunteers work approximately 4 hours twice a month for 6 months, depending on the role, accruing 100 hours of DV credit equal to 5 nights of residential retreat time.
